Last updated: 1 October 2026

JD STUDIOS AFRICA ("we", "us") is a nonprofit organisation based in Nairobi, Kenya. We respect your privacy and handle personal data in line with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019. This policy explains what we collect through jdstudios.africa and why.

Information we collect

  • Application form: your name, email address, phone number, location, chosen tracks, experience level, preferred format and any notes you add.
  • Email verification: before showing the application form we ask for your email address and send you a code. We record the email address, the time of verification, your browser type and IP address to prevent abuse.
  • Contact, partner and volunteer forms: the details you choose to send us, such as name, email, phone, organisation and message.
  • Newsletter: your email address.
  • Basic technical data: our web host keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, pages requested and browser type) for security and to understand overall traffic.

How we use it

  • To respond to your enquiry or application and to arrange courses, mentoring or partnerships.
  • To send updates you asked for, such as intake dates and new articles. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • To keep the website secure and improve it.

We do not sell your personal information.

Services that help us

Form submissions are delivered to our inbox by FormSubmit (formsubmit.co), and email is handled through Google (Gmail). These providers process data on our behalf. Fonts and all other files are served from our own website.

Cookies

The application page uses a single session cookie to remember that you verified your email address, for up to 30 days. We do not use advertising cookies.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries and applications only as long as needed for the purpose they were sent for, and for programme records and reporting to partners, after which they are deleted.

Your rights

You may ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, or object to how we use it, by emailing partner@jdstudios.africa. You can also complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner of Kenya.

Children

Some programmes are open to young people under 18. In those cases we ask for a parent or guardian's consent before enrolment.
